Hygge-inspired bedroom furniture to warm up your “Boudoir”…

* This post is sponsored by Superbalist.
It’s been 5 years since our original bedroom make-over so, it’s high time we give the master a little TLC. Nothing major, just an update of our Hygge-inspired bedroom furniture and accessories to refresh and warm-up for winter.
Now just a short summary in case you may not be familiar with the term “Hygge”:
In short, it’s “The Danish way to live well” – but at its core, it’s actually a feeling and the perfect description of our family life and the atmosphere we strive to create in our home. Somewhere between minimalism and slow-living, between farm life and city charm, between nature and man-made. A place where we find beauty, warmth and security in modesty and simplicity. It’s way too much to get into here so I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy of “The Little Book of Hygge” by Meik Wiking. A wonderful and worthwhile weekend read that’s sure to enrich your life too.

Bringing Hygge into home & design:
A hygge home is all about warmth, calm and tranquillity. Think soft lighting, layers upon layers of cozy textures, natural fibers and neutral colours. Beautiful, simplistic furniture and adding echoes of nature indoors. It’s about creating a haven where you can relax, recharge, be present and enjoy the now.
So, 1st up, let’s tackle the furniture…
These are my top “Hygge” picks for bedroom furniture over at Superbalist. And just in case your bedroom is also calling for a furniture update, SHOP NOW simply by clicking on the links below.

- Start with a neutral base such as the Deco plain upholstered bed & headboard.
- Nusa rattan headboard for a beachy feel.
- Sloped Panel headboard available in various colours because Hygge doesn’t mean “NO COLOUR”. Simply remember to stick to soothing, calm tones like Green or Grey.
- The Arched rattan headboard for the boho fans.

- Keep things “clean” with a plain side table square for only the essentials.
- If less means more to you, consider a floating shelf such as the Tia shelf instead of a traditional bedside table.
- Or maybe something simple like the Mundo bedside table.
- Boho Circle rattan side table.
- Minimalist Perry bedside table with a little more storage space.
- And one of our favourite local designers… POPSTRUKT. Their Sugar Cube side table is always a winner!

- The Seaford sideboard offers loads of cupboard space.
- Alva 5 drawer storage, for everything that can fold.
- A Gemma 1 drawer bedside table could fit perfectly into a smaller space.
- Easily transform the Rattan 6 drawer into a dressing table simply by adding a beautiful wall mirror.

- The Ella lounge chair makes me want to sit down and relax with my favourite read.
- While the Soma armchair provides a little more “cuddling space”.
- The Exton occasional chair adds a chic touch.
- Maybe consider something a little more fun… Like the Husk sherpa bean bag.
- Ottomans are a MUST and Superbalist has a huge variety to choose from.
- I’ve been eyeing this Scandi bench for a while now…
- And a special shoutout to this Cloud ottoman – what would a “Hygge” bedroom be without a sprinkle of faux fur?

- The Alva leaning shelf for all those extra bits and precious treasures.
- Once again, a tiny reminder of the Tia shelf.
- A Tower ladder hanger with a single shelf, works well for hanging items.
- Or consider the Wilah wooden shelf to keep your space clutter-free.
- And lastly the Malu round wall shelf.
Be sure to check back in on the blog over the next few weeks as we share a final reveal of our bedroom revamp soon.
