Christmas Gift Guide: Our Barbie Christmas wish list

It’s no secret, in our home we are all massive Barbie fans – even Mr. Perfect plays his part as Ken (and sometimes Skipper too). This year we’ve especially enjoyed getting to know the brand we all love so dearly. From celebrating Barbie’s 59th birthday to designing gorgeous dresses, amazing shopping hauls and reviewing the new “You can be Anything” book series… Barbie has been a positive, uplifting and motivating part of our lives and a constant reminder that it’s fun being a girl. So, it’s only fitting we share our Barbie Christmas wish list with our fellow Barbie fans!
But first a THANK YOU!
A few months ago Eliana and Lia was blessed with the opportunity to come play little models for this season’s Edgars Barbie Summer campaign. We were unsure at first but knew we could trust the brand. It was an exciting day of hair, lights, studio photography and pretty Barbie gear of course.
It was amazing to see how Eliana and Lia, who differ so much, both absolutely adore Barbie.
We all can’t get enough of this season’s denim looks.
Barbie takes blue (a traditionally male colour, why I still don’t know) and makes it accessible and pretty to all girls. Every outfit is easy to wear and comfortable. The collection is characterised by clean lines and classic girly silhouettes. With a touch of Barbie as always. Best of all, the garments are produced in South Africa.
And they’ve included accessories too!
Drawstring backpacks, watches and wallets. All in signature, bright Barbie pink! Lia had a blast showing off every piece.
Getting to experience a “real” photoshoot and working with Barbie was a dream come true for our girls and doing it together… The cherry on top! Barbie, has shown Eliana and Lia that they really “can be anything”.
You can get your own stunning Barbie denim gear from an Edgars store near you.
And now there’s something for Ava too…
Do you recognise her? Yes, thats’s definitely Barbie! With her blond hair, blue eyes and radiating confidence she can’t go unnoticed. Little girls are never too young to start dreaming big and Barbie wants them to know anything is possible from day one!
With the most adorable baseball caps, toddler feeding bibs, swaddle blankets, dribble bibs, towels and flannels. You can wrap your little angel in Barbie charm from birth.
Ava feels super chuffed with herself while sporting her cap and there’s no sharing her new bedtime blanket.Get your hands on this range, available at Zando, Makro, Dischem and Clicks.
Now, what are the girls hoping for under the tree?
Eliana has her eyes on two dolls…
The Barbie Color Surprise Doll
(Available with both African-American and Caucasian features – how cool is that?).
Instantly transform Barbie’s hair from pretty pastel shades to bolder, brighter hues – simply add warm water. Pretty pink, teal and purple streaks will appear. You also get 4 hair stencils and a stencil tool for custom designs to play with as well as 5 hair accessories for styling.
Next, the Made To Move Sports Rhythmic Gymnast Barbie Doll
Part of the Barbie active sports dolls range, each Barbie Made to Move doll has 22 joints in the neck, upper arms, elbows, wrists, torso, hips, upper legs, knees and ankles for flexibility and an incredible range of motion. Eliana will be playing out her dream of becoming an Olympic Gymnast in now time, making up her own stories as well as the many moves to make with this Barbie.
Lia is however more interested in the “extras” this year…
The Barbie outdoor furniture plus pets collection.
Perfect for summer with a braai, hammock or beach picnic. These are sure to keep her happily playing for many days ahead. Each set includes traditional furniture pieces (like a hammock and table, braai and chair or umbrella beach chair and cooler-box), delicious snacks and cool accessories. The pets are super cute too and comes with a kitten or a puppy.
A show-stopper that both girls can’t help admiring is the Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Cove Castle.
Give your Barbie Rainbow Princess and her puppy, Honey (both sold separately), a magical space to live and reign over Dreamtopia’s Rainbow Cove Kingdom. This colourful play set can easily be taken anywhere and carried around with its rainbow handle. It contains a princess throne that expands into a full-size bed for Barbie with a small bed for Honey too. The castle cove also has dressing tables, complete with perfume and jewellery accessories. Everything a princess (and her pup) needs to feel at home.
Find all these Barbie goodies (and so many others) at most leading toy retailers such as Toy Kingdom, Hamleys, Toys R Us, ToyZone as well as Takealot.com
So there you have our Barbie Christmas wish list. All the things the girls are hoping to find under the tree. What’s your favourite? Will Santa be bringing some Barbie to your home too?
