Nothing like a little weekend away for two… We try to escape the kids (meant in the best way possible) at least twice a year. Usually around our birthdays and make an effort to find a romantic weekend getaway near Pretoria that’s affordable and memorable. This year Rosemary Hill provided the perfect spot for celebrating Mr. Perfect’s BIG 40!

Situated just minutes outside of Pretoria…

Rosemary Hill Farm is a gem! With loads of things to do and great places to enjoy a meal. Spending a night in one of their bespoke accommodation options has also been on our travel bucket list for months! So, I decided to surprise Mr.Perfect with a night away in The Hideout.

The design & interior is incredible…

A little “love nest” is the best way to describe this cozy cabin. Hidden amongst the trees you’ll find yourself in complete privacy, perched amongst the branches in the most incredible Raw Studios masterpiece.

It’s tiny-house living at its best! Combining clever design and the beauty of the natural surroundings to create a space that feels warm and homey but still luxurious too! We entered “The Hideout” through an old dam, walking into the most beautiful braai area complete with a fire pit and a stunning loose standing bath.

Thoughtful finishes and surprises around every corner makes this an exciting stay and the perfect couples getaway. You wouldn’t want to be this close to someone you don’t adore…

We snuggled on the comfy window nook, bathed under the stars next to a crackling fire and enjoyed a slept-in wrapped in the softest bedding…

Nothing beats waking up to views of the lush forest and Mr.Perfect could start each day enjoying his morning coffee on the outside deck.

And the Attention to detail…

FREE WiFi is available but you won’t find any screens – it’s about unplugging and reconnecting with the one you love the most! The cabin is self-catering WITH a delicious complimentary breakfast. Wood and matches were provided for the braai and the kitchen is fully equipped with all the basics for two. Coffee tea, sugar, milk and a few treats add a special touch.

Making use of the braai area is a must but if cooking ain’t your thing… you could always reserve a spot for lunch or dinner (subject to availability) at either of the farm’s 2 restaurants; The Greenhouse Cafe or The Rosemary Hill Restaurant.

I decided to book us a shared PICNIC in advance. Think homemade Ice Tea, a variety of local cheeses and crackers. Seasonal fruit, fresh bakes, preserves, pates, Charcuterie and more. It even included dessert! Decadent dark chocolate and pecan nut brownie truffles, raspberry macarons and mini milk tarts. YUMMY!!!!

*We collected our crate of delicious nibbles and drinks at the coffee shop upon arrival.

• For more adventure… Consider visiting the onsite ACROBRANCH park, go HORSE RIDING or taking a SEGWAY TOUR exploring every corner of the farm.
• Or simply take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful formal garden. THE MAZE is 80m in diameter and is made up of over 2km of pathways and over 2000 trees, herbs and shrubs.
• Don’t forget to pop into the FARM SHOP before you leave. Freshly baked breads, homemade goods and sweet treats like fudge, brownies, biscuits and rusks as a perfect gift for the little ones. Rosemary Hill also sell their own range of body products, linen mist, insect repellent and room sprays – all manufactured with essential oils distilled on the farm and available for purchase. It’s like taking a piece of your stay with you…

The Hideout was everything we expected and more!

One night away had us feeling rested, relaxed and most importantly loved up! A wonderful start to “Chapter 40” and the perfect Romantic weekend getaway near Pretoria.
