Making memories at Toy Kingdom with dad

A couple of weeks ago Mr. Perfect a.k.a Alec and the girls were invited to go and enjoy an instore “Amazing Race” at our local Toy Kingdom. Nobody knew what to expect but the excitement was real. Even Ava could feel something good was coming…
Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff. The girls instantly felt at home and eagerly awaited instructions, they were ready too have FUN!
First up, radio controlled car racing!
It’s 2018 people – girls dig cars too and teaching our girls how to operate radio controlled cars was Mr. Perfect’s highlight of the day. Racing their cars all over the store could have kept our crew happy and occupied for the entire afternoon. It took some convincing getting them to move onto the next leg of the race.
Taking to the skies with a hand operated drone…
Drones are all the rage and Eliana showed a lot of interest although she was still a little too scared to try for herself. The aim of the game was to keep the drone in flight by letting it hover above your hand. It would move up and down, back and forth as you move your hand. The girls are still convinced dad can do magic and he’s not ready to correct them, yet.
What would play be without bubbles?
Giant, magic bubbles to pop, bounce and play with. Back and forth, to one another. Lia was a pro, keeping her bubble safe for the longest. Ava on the other hand, thought the aim was to burst every bubble the instant it landed in her hands. So many smiles and giggles once again proved the simplest of things can provide the most pleasure.
From bubbles to blocks
Mega Bloks first builders was the next stop along the Amazing Race. Seeing how high of a tower they could build together was easy-peasy. And in a flash everyone was ready for the next challenge but not before a quick slide…
The Hape Challenger
Create endless marble runs with this challenging set of straight and curved rails, high-velocity funnels, a seesaw, accelerators, blocks, levels, bases and 50 marbles. Constructing this isn’t an easy task, luckily you’ll find an already assembled model in store ready to explore and experiment with. Alec and the girls made minor adjustments seeing where their marbles would go.
There’s just something beautiful in watching a marble run it’s course once you release it and the clinkity clank of wood makes this experience that much sweeter.
A little break for free-play and to say hello to good friends…
You guys know we are massive Barbie fans so naturally a make-over challenges needed to be included too. I especially appreciated being a “fly on the wall” for this part. Seeing Mr. Perfect comb and tie Barbie’s hair while giving advice on fashion and styling tips had me in stitches.
Seeing all the latest toys from the Barbie Estate range was also amazing. Eliana would love a zippy little Moped for her Barbie to scoot around in. Lift up the kickstand and push to head into a world of imagination while puppy comes along for the ride in the yellow basket on the back. And don’t forget her cute yellow helmet – safety 1st. Lia however, already has her eyes on summer and the playful outdoor furniture.

Ava found Thomas the train! We better book our cinema seats for 5 Oktober when Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! The Movie, officially hits Ster Kinekor theaters here in South Africa. Anyone joining us?

Don’t forget Face Painting

And the reward
You can’t complete a race without some kind of a reward and getting to build their own bear in the Build-a-bear Workshop was a perfect end to an already perfect afternoon. Together the girls selected a bear, added a sweet giggle button (to remember all the laughs shared on the day)…
Stuffing her to the perfect hugg-ability…
Naming her and registering her as part of our family. Ready to take home and share forever.
Before they knew it…
An afternoon at Toy Kingdom turned into a daddy /daughter memory everyone will treasure forever. It was such a fantastic escape from our everyday life, getting to play together and experience all the fun new toys available. Alec and the girls could have stayed forever but without realising it, 3 hours had passed and it was time for dinner. It was one-on-one, daddy-daughter time and definitely the 1st of many more Toy Kingdom visits.
