What are the benefits of Play dough?

These days, there’s no shortage of toy options. At times, it can be quite overwhelming trying to figure out what to buy and what to rather “pass by”. But then, certain toys have stood the test of time. The “classics” that win generation after generation. Thanks to its irresistible charms (who can resist picking up a ball of play dough?) and the many benefits… Play dough will always be a good play choice.
So what are the benefits of play dough?

Now let’s get playing!
You can make your own play dough, we even have a few recipes on the blog for you to try (CLICK HERE to find them).
We, however, enjoy supporting a fellow local mama, making the softest play dough in the most beautiful colours and scents. All while using natural ingredients that don’t contain any plastic and that won’t harm our girls or the environment…

Take playtime even further with Dough Ray Me
This lovely South African brand, known for its small-batch, handmade play dough wants to help parents, encourage their little ones to learn and develop through play. They advocate for the importance of holistic play, where a child’s physical, emotional and psychological well being is taken into account. Dough Ray Me aims to give moms and dads the “tools” to stimulate open-ended play, free-thinking and creativity while also building relationships and character as they explore through play.

Dough Ray Me play dough is completely safe and made up of edible ingredients. I would however always recommend keeping a strict eye on little ones under 2. Any small items and, play dough in itself, could be a choking hazard.
More about their monthly Subscription Boxes

What’s inside?
- 3 x 180g Jars of play dough (If taken care of, your play dough can l last for up to 6 months. We play A LOT though so ours never make it past 12 weeks.)
- 1 x Steel dough cutter
- 3 x Natural stamps
- 1 x Set of cards based on the theme to encourage play (These are so pretty, I want to frame them all!)
- 1 x Pack of surprise elements to fit the theme

Each month will have a different theme. October is all about Life in the Deep Blue Sea with November focussing on Birds of the Sky!
How does it work?
Subscription boxes cost R285 + R99 courier fee. So the price comes to R384 – which does seem a bit much for play dough BUT considering the amount of love and attention that goes into creating these boxes AND seeing the girls enjoy and play with their Creepy Crawlies box EVERY SINGLE DAY this past month, it’s definitely worth every cent.

You’ll need to be quick, orders for October boxes close TODAY but you’ll be able to subscribe to the November box until the 1st week of October. Simply visit their online store at www.doughraymeplaydough.co.za. Billing only happens after you’ve ordered and payment for October boxes needs to be done by Monday, the 14th of September to secure your box. The boxes will be going out on the 24th OF SEPTEMBER.
Now, you’ll be billed each month going forward for the next 3 months but you can of course cancel your subscription. Just be sure to do so between the 1st and the 5th of every month. Dough Ray Me is still a small, local business and only make these boxes to order.

We’ve already subscribed and all 3 girls can’t wait for our new box to arrive. Let the countdown begin!
