Easter Breakfast Inspiration: A Sunrise Picnic Surprise!

Easter. A time to stop, be grateful and thank our Lord for the love He has shown us. That’s what Easter means to us. It’s also a time to spend with family.
Since I can remember we’ve always celebrated with a special Easter breakfast or brunch. It’s one of my fondest childhood memories and a tradition we have continued with the girls. This year we surprised them all a little earlier than usual with a break of dawn backyard breakfast picnic.
Easter Sunday!
We usually attend the Easter morning sermon at church and of course the Easter bunny also pays us a visit so, breakfast needs to be simple and easy – because this mama ain’t missing out on the fun! Still, I want this breakfast to be difference to our daily routine. Picnics are one of our favourite things to do. It’s casual, fun and always a hit!
For Easter the set-up needed to be extra special.
Being teepee obsessed, of course I include our teeny tiny baby teepee from My Tiny Teepee.
Bunnies because who can resist…? La Fédé has the cutest soft toy bunnies. All different texture and the fluffy ones even include a rattle inside.
Tiger Lily Tots also custom made this pretty set of bunny babushka dolls for us. A family of 5 bunnies for our little family of 5.
Not forgetting the true meaning of Easter, I made the girls some flower crowns.
Jesus wore a thorn crown and was mocked for being “King of the Jews” (Matthew 27:37). The cross was a heavy burden and He bled for all our sins. Ultimately His love, power and grace overcame sin and now each of us have a chance at a new, eternal life. (Matthew 27 & 28).
In making these flower crowns I wanted to represent the crown we get to wear as children of God. Saved by the cross and the blood spilled by Jesus. Gifted a new life.
So what’s on the menu?
I’m always impressed with the tasty Easter selection available at Woolworths every year.
Lightly toasted and buttered hot cross buns are a MUST! And with traditional, extra spicy, chocolate and fruit free options to choose from, they’ve got all your preferences covered. So while your buns are getting toasty…
Would you believe, those WHITE eggs in the image above are actually organic, free-range eggs? I don’t know how but that’s what they look like. Nothing beats a boiled egg for breakfast.
I also pre-made individual granola pots. And by pre-made I mean; filling pretty glass containers with plain yogurt the night before and just adding the Granola in the morning. Nuts, seeds, coconut and just the right amount of Easter spice. We like to add cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and a swirl of maple syrup.
Eliana is a HUGE date ball fan so I couldn’t resist adding some to our breakfast spread.
And enjoy!
Together we basked in the golden rays of the perfect morning sunrise while Mr’ Perfect taught the girls all about Easter.
Of course Sunday will look a little different seeing as we’re visiting family and we’ll need to consider their traditions too but we’ll definitely be having breakfast and I’m packing all these treats to share with everyone else too.

Special note: All the girls are beautifully dressed in the new A/W 18 Annapatat Kids collection. I am wearing the gorgeous Donna Wrap Dress in blush pink by Anneen Henze Collection. What a perfect mommy and me match! Turbans also Annapatat Kids. Ava and Lia’s adorable shoes from Shooshoos!
