HUGE “mama-need-to-know” post following! To all my fellow parents, I’m not sure if I’m alone but apparently I’ve been living under a rock for the past few years… I have no idea how but I never even knew Adventure Clubs existed until a couple of weeks ago and it’s so bizarre because it’s quite possibly one of the coolest parenting Apps currently available! Joburg, Cape Town and Durban (even London) mamas this one is for you!
So what is Adventure Clubs?
Founded by Janelle Schroy, mama of 4, Adventure Clubs is an App for families. It gives you access to fun, child-centered activities and experiences. It basically answers the question of “What can we do this weekend / holiday?”
You are provided with a list of age-appropriate “things to do” in and around the location you have selected. Now you can easily pick and choose according to your specific preferences, all at the click of a button. There are endless amounts of adventures happing through-out the month covering different interests and some even include wonderful themed activities during holidays. The idea is to provide the entire family with a memorable experience that can be treasured forever all while learning, socialising and most importantly, having fun!
How does it work?
More about our adventure…
We jumped at the oppertunity to attend an adventure and couldn’t resist the Holly Jolly High Tea: Llama Llama Holiday Drama. High Tea and a Llama… Can you blame us? Hosted by Adventure leader Jacqueline Wilmot at the gorgeous Casalinga Ristorante we dressed in our Christmas bests and set out to enjoy a morning of tea and tasty treats with new friends.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Jaqueline and made to feel at home.
She knew exactly who we were and kindly helped us get settled. The girls were pleasantly surprised by the fun outdoor play area and beautiful shaded lawn next to our cheerfully decorated tea tables. They ran to play while Mr. Perfect and myself could enjoy something to drink.
As soon as all the guests were there, we gathered onto the lawn for story time.
Finally we would find out more about this much anticipated Llama Llama Holiday Drama. Poor Llama Llama get’s caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas time and it takes a good old Mama Llama cuddle to remind him what the true meaning of it all really is. This is such a cute story and I was amazed to see how captivated it kept EVERYONE, in fact, it’s hard to tell who enjoyed being read to more… the littles or the “big kids”.
Next it was time for tea!
We got to enjoy yummy fresh fruits, beautifully decorated biscuits, decadent chocolate creations, dainty tea sandwiches, festive fruit mince pies and a few other mouthwatering delights. Eliana and Lia couldn’t believe all this “grown-up food” was made especially for them.
Free-play for all.
The gardens at Casalinga are simply breathtaking and after tea the kids were given time to play and explore. We got lost in the flower garden, found baby chicks in the vegetable patch and even spotted baby apples and pears in the fruit orchid.
Just before it was time to say goodbye we got to do a fun Christmas colour-in craft.
A little Llama count down to Christmas chart. Something simple but perfect to take home and remember the day. (It’s 5 days later and we still stick our stars on our Llama count down every morning.)
We loved spending a morning together as a family, totally unplugged, relaxed and connected and meeting so many new, like-minded mamas was a bonus too. We have already booked our next adventure for later this month! I have a feeling “adventuring” might just become our new thing…
